Tech Talks II

Tech Talks II

At our Tech Talks II, we had the pleasure of seeing both new faces and dedicated Toronto ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter members, at the Monarch Tavern. The evening began with refreshing beverages, followed by two great presentations, bringing the spirit of SIGGRAPH home to Toronto. Thank you members and thank you speakers.

Our first guest speaker, Mark Elendt of Side Effects Software, was Dailies Program Chair for SIGGRAPH 2013 and 2014. He took us inside the challenges of game and video production from a CG perspective with a series of short artistic videos ranging from robots to ragdolls. You can learn more and submit http://s2015.siggraph.org/submitters/dailies

Our second guest speaker, James McCrae, gave us a virtually realistic peek at his entrepreneurial project flatfab which gives the computer graphics community a cool and easy to use way to design and test 3D objects, then recreate and assemble in real life. Check it out at http://flatfab.com.  We also took look at James’ second project, JanusVR, a web browser that allows you to view HTML pages in 3D.

We will see you and your TOY, to be donated to Toronto Fire Services No.315 on December 9th2015 for our Annual Holiday Party. We will also announce the results from our Election! There will be party games, prizes and a lot of good cheer circulating within the Chapter. http://toronto.siggraph.org/event/holiday-party-toy-drive/
